Graphic Designer COOP
At Mirai
About the Role
We’re looking for a Graphic Design COOP to support the day-to-day execution of both internal and external communications.
This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and ideal for a student who is organized, creative, and proactive. At Mirai, the Communications department is highly strategic and touches many different areas. Instead of doing repetitive production tasks, you will be fully embedded in the team, exposed to the different varieties of the Comms function, and given the opportunity to directly expand our library of branding visual assets and custom illustrations. This is a learning-focused role where you will start with foundational brand design. As you build confidence, you will be given the space to actively expand your scope, learn new visual and strategic skills, and take ownership of critical creative projects.
Key Responsibilities Across the Comms Function: || During your 8-month placement, you will gain hands-on experience across the primary areas of our Communications department:
1: Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
- Create graphics, icons, and templates for our internal announcement platform, emails, and Slack.
- Format and design our monthly internal newsletter, ensuring important company news is presented clearly and visually.
- Design presentation slides and digital displays for major internal milestones, including our Monthly All-Hands and Studio Ceremonies. 2: External Branding & Social Media
- Design engaging visual assets (static graphics, carousels, and banners) for our professional and community channels (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, and future platforms).
- Collaborate closely with Comms managers to brainstorm and execute design concepts for upcoming activities and campaigns. 3: Corporate Communications & PR
- Assist in updating high-level deck templates (such as strategy updates) for stakeholder presentations, strictly maintaining corporate design standards.
- Learn to strictly apply Mirai’s brand guidelines across all internal and external communication collateral.
Requirements || We do not expect you to know everything on day one. We are looking for a student with solid fundamentals who is excited to learn:
- Academic Background: Currently enrolled in a post-secondary Graphic Design, Digital Media, Communication Design, or related degree (eligible for an 8-month co-op placement).
- Software Skills: Proficient with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Basic experience using Figma or InDesign is a strong asset.
- Detail-Oriented: An eye for clean typography, correct layout alignments, and proofreading text to prevent errors.
- Organization & Coordination: Able to manage multiple incoming requests, take constructive feedback, and communicate updates on your design deadlines.
- Portfolio Required: A link to an online portfolio or PDF showing visual layouts, typography, or academic design work.
